About OSI
The Security Helpdesk for Internet Users (OSI) is a service promoted by the Spanish Government through the INTECO-CERT. The OSI is conceived as an end-user support service. It is aimed at informing, preventing and resolving any security issues regarding Internet use.
This Office has a twofold objective: firstly the OSI aims to raise public awareness of internet security and to promote a culture of security, providing prevention, training and information services in the field of Technology, paying special attention to the State of Internet Security.
Secondly, the OSI is actively engaged in the detection and reporting of Internet new treats such as malware, privacy risk in social networks, online fraud or any other type of computer security attack.
Also it is worth mentioning the OSI´s particular concern about the children´s risks and safety on the internet, that have motivated the creation of “OSI Junior” (menores.osi.es), a page on OSI´s website focused on specific internet issues faced by educators, parents, children and teenagers.
The OSI hopes to develop a “culture of security” among internet users. In this regard, the OSI performs a number of roles, which include:
- Establishing a High availability service of information which provides comprehensive information, advice and assistance about IT security.
- Bringing security to internet users through a multi-channel communication platform, where different needs can be satisfied across multiple contact channels, such as social networks, portal web, email and telephone assistance.
- Providing training, information and assistance using non-technicallanguage for easy understanding by the broad public.
- Adapting, improving and developing IT security services.
- Identifying patterns and level indicators of the culture of security among users, in order to detect new user needs and introduce further improvements in OSI´s performance.
To sum up, The OSI provides awareness, support, information and advice services characterized by efficiency, flexibility and interactivity. Such services are intended to overcome internet security incidents.
The implementation of this project has been materialized by INTECO through an easy navigable website aimed at providing internet security services.

Security Wizard, which provides guidance on solving security problems and allows contact OSI´s technical support staff to deal with:

- Programs or operating systems incidents
- Other problems
In addition to the above mentioned services, internet user´s questions can be answered by the OSI´s team of experts at (incidencias@cert.inteco.es)
The OSI is not only an information security support channel but a valuable source of information. Such information is adapted depending on the target audience and comes offered in two main sections:

Current issues: containing relevant info for Internet users who show an initial interest in Information Security.
The information is provided through alerts, warnings, tech industry news, and a blog dedicated to OSI´s latest news and events. Information is produced in an easy and understandable style, for a non-technical approach to the subject matter. Users will be able to deepen and broaden their knowledge of Information Security aspects by visiting INTECO-CERT section.

Resources area: in this section, the OSI has enabled a free tools area, (offering the free software tool “CONAN”), computer games, online safety & security videos as well as reports, studies and educational guides.
Furthermore, users will be able to share OSI´s contents on their blogs and websites through a specific sharing area which contains all the necessary information.
In short, this is a new website featuring tips, information and resources aimed at navigating the internet safety.
